Tom Cruise and his ex- wife Nicole Kidman are proud parents - as their adopted son Connor has landed his first big acting break, it has emerged.

According to reports, Connor, who is 13-years-old, will be playing Will Smith’s son in a new movie. At the audition for ’The Trial of the Chicago 7’, which will be directed by Steven Spielberg, Connor is said to have made such a huge impression on the casting bosses, that he was hired for the part.

"Tom is thrilled because Connor went through the auditions like all the other children, and seems to have been given the job based on his talent," Contactmusic quoted a source, as telling tabloid National Enquirer.

"Nicole’s excited too, because Connor has wanted to act for a long time. Now he’s getting his big break," the source added.

Smith - a close pal of Cruise - will play activist Bobby Seale in the film, about the trial of demonstrators arrested during the 1968 Democratic National Convention.
