
Allison Janney was born on 19th November 1960 at Dayton, Ohio, USA. She was born to a well reputed family; her father being the renowned jazz musician and her mother being and upcoming actress. She completed her studies from the Kenyon College, Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. She was brought up with here two brothers who were also musicians.
Her career started by acting in soaps and serials. Her first soap was “As the World Turns” where she played the role of Vi Kaminski. This theatrical personality had a great approach. She acted in various soaps such as “Guiding Light”, “Law and Order”, etc. then she turned on to do films. Her ventures were “American Beauty”, “Primary Colours”, “The Hours”, etc. In 1999 she acted in the drama named “Taming of the Shrew” based on Shakespeare’s excerpts and produced by New York Public Theatre. She also gave the voice for “Peach” the starfish in the animated movie named “Finding Nemo”.
She won four Emmy Awards for her role as presidential press secretary C.J. Cregg in the television drama “The West Wing”. She was awarded the Independent Spirit Award for her performance in the film named “Our Very Own”. She was awarded “Outer Critics Circle” award for her awesome performance in Arthur Miller’s “A View from the Bridge”. She was paid $70,000 for each episode of “The West Wing”.
